Groundbreaking Exos Bracing Technology now Available at Hoys Physio
Exos bracing is a revolutionary technology offering an adjustable and reformable solution for the treatment of fractures and other injuries requiring stabilization. Exos braces can be fitted to the spine, upper extremity (arms) and lower extremity (legs). Exos bracing is moulded directly to the anatomy for the best possible fit and comfort for the patient. Exos advanced technology allows a clinician to x-ray, examine and initiate rehabilitation therapy earlier in the healing process while its unique multi-layered construct enhances patient comfort and protection allowing them to heal while they return to their normal routine and remain active. Combined with or as an alternative to traditional casts and splints, Exos advanced technology allows braces to mold directly to the anatomy for the best possible fit and comfort. The signature feature of this fracture brace is the Boa® adjustable closure system that provides for minute adjustments in circumferential compression. Post-operatively, this adjustability allows loosening and/or removal to examine a patient’s wound without needing to cut off or replace a cast. Provides support and protection for major injuries to the wrist.
Traditional casting is generally from Plater or paris or synthetic cast. Limitations of traditional casting include their weight, which can be quite considerable, thus restricting movement, especially of a child. Removal of the cast requires destroying the cast itself. The process is often noisy, making use of a special oscillating saw that can easily cut the hard cast material but has difficulty cutting soft material like cast padding or skin. Although the removal is often painless, this can be distressing for the patient, especially children. A cast saw can cut, abrade, or burn skin, but those results are uncommon. Additionally, casts material and padding materials can break down if patients get them wet. Synthetic casts can be fitted with waterproof padding but are rarely as comfortable as Exos Bracing.
